Making time for mental health in the workplace
At D360, we believe that looking after mental health is just as important as looking after physical health. This World Mental Health Day, we took time across the sites and projects we’re working on to bring people together, share some cakes and, most importantly, encourage conversations about mental health.
It was a simple gesture, but one with an important message: making time to check in with each other matters.
Working in engineering and decommissioning can be demanding. Long hours, challenging environments, tight deadlines and working away from home can all put pressure on people, both professionally and personally. In industries like ours, where people are often focused on getting the job done safely and efficiently, it can be easy to put your own wellbeing to one side.
But mental health affects everyone, regardless of their role, experience or background. Talking about how we feel shouldn’t be seen as a weakness, and asking for help should never be something anyone feels uncomfortable doing.
This World Mental Health Day was a reminder to pause, connect and talk. Sometimes it is the simplest little things that help start a conversation.
