Demolition of former chromic acid manufacturing plant, Texas, USA
The former Chromic Acid chemical manufacturing unit was built in the 1960’s with production ceasing in 2002. The plant contained a number of raw and finished chemicals within the tanks, vessels, dryer unit and pipework and also a number of LIVE electrical and mechanical equipment that fed the adjacent Chrome Oxide manufacturing unit.
The demolition phase comprised of the following activities:
- carry out the safe demolition of the former Chromic Acid cell floor.
- carry out the safe demolition of the former Chromic Acid tank storage area and dryer unit
- co-ordination between the adjacent LIVE packing and shipping warehouse whilst maintaining production targets.
- removal of hazardous and asbestos containing materials
- decontamination of residual chemicals
- isolations and disconnections of all services
- re-routing of LIVE services
- No interference with existing operational facilities
