Sullom Voe – Principal Designer, Shetlands
Sullom Voe is home to one of Europe’s largest oil terminals. Built between 1975 and 1981, the terminal receives crude oil from North Sea fields via pipeline, processes, stores and exports this by tanker.
As the quantity of oil that flows through the terminal has reduced, a number of the facilities on the site have become redundant. In order to prevent structural degradation of these structures, or significant ongoing maintenance costs, the Client have decided to undertake a programme of removal of redundant plant. This work covers a 5 year programme and includes demolition of a number of Storage Tanks, Pipelines, Jetty head infrastructure and process plants.
