Demolition and clearance of agricultural plant for future redevelopment, Cheshire, England

D360 are supporting the demolition and clearance of the former NPK Production facility for CF Fertilizers at Ince Marshes, near Ellesmere Port, Cheshire – preparing the site for future industrial or renewable energy redevelopment opportunities.

Originally constructed in the mid-20th century, the NPK Plant played a key role in supporting the UK’s agricultural industry through the production of nitrogen, phosphate, and potash-based fertilisers.

The project involved the safe and systematic removal of redundant NPK process infrastructure, including structures, pipe racks and conveyors; storage vessels, silos, drying towers; conveyor systems, ducting, and steel support frameworks; associated electrical and mechanical plant, cabling, and pipework; and ground-level concrete plinths and foundations.

The demolition works were carried out under strict HSE management systems, fully aligned with CDM Regs, detailed risk assessments, and method statements. Our control strategy is simple but vital: zero harm to people, the environment, and surrounding receptors. From comprehensive induction and task-specific training for all site personnel, to the scheduling of high-impact works during daytime hours to minimise disruption and use of low-noise and low-emission machinery, to protection and relocation of wildlife under licensed ecological supervision, every element of the project was managed with care, precision, and responsibility – ensuring that progress never comes at the expense of safety or sustainability.
