Complex programme of decommissioning and demolition works at Fiddlers Ferry Power Station
D360 are continuing with the major demolition and regeneration project at the former Fiddlers Ferry Power Station.
Once one of the North West’s most recognisable power-generating sites, Fiddler’s Ferry ceased generation in 2020 after almost 50 years of operation. The extensive brownfield site is now undergoing a major transformation as Peel progresses its long-term regeneration plans.
D360 is providing Project Management and Principal Designer support on behalf of Peel, helping coordinate and oversee the safe delivery of a complex programme of decommissioning and demolition works.
Current and planned works include the progressive demolition of the Flue Gas Desulphurisation (FGD) plant and electrostatic precipitators, extensive deplanting operations within the turbine hall, and preparation for the future demolition of the site’s remaining major structures, including the cooling towers, approximately 200m chimney stack, boiler house and turbine hall.
The project is a great example of demolition engineering, Principal Designer coordination and client-side project management working together to safely enable the transition of a major former industrial site towards its next chapter.
